The warehouse district was supposed to be a simple extraction. Alpha had mapped the exits, Beta had looped the cameras, and the rest of the Bureaucrats fanned out in their usual silence. Epsilon stood at the back, small and quiet, her fingers tracing the sigil on her staff as though it were a lullaby. A guard stumbled into her line of sight, blade half-drawn. She did not raise her voice. She simply tilted her head, the way a child tilts it at a confusing word in a book, and the air around her brightened with a faint, warm luminescence. The guard's weapon clattered to the floor. He did not remember why. Epsilon blinked, looked down at him with genuine concern, and murmured, 'Are you alright? You look tired.' Then she turned back to Master, who was already three corridors ahead, pretending he hadn't seen anything at all.
