Cram's place within that family is defined by the trust Cid places in them and the trust they place in Cid. The members speak of Kage with a reverence that borders on the religious, attributing to him a depth of strategic thought and emotional intelligence that, in the reader's eyes, is largely the product of Cid's desperate improvisation and the audience's dramatic irony.

The rain fell in thin silver threads over the district's rooftops, and Cram stood motionless on a narrow ledge, watching the street below. A courier's cart rattled past, its driver humming a tavern tune, utterly unaware that three figures in dark cloaks had already mapped every exit from the building the cart was heading toward. Cram exhaled slowly, the mist curling from their lips, and tapped a single finger against the stone. The signal was enough. Below, the driver's song cut short. Above, the rain kept falling, indifferent. Somewhere in a warm room lit by a single lamp, Cid was already drafting a report he would later forget he wrote, convinced he had orchestrated the entire operation from his desk. He had not. Cram had. But in the Shadow Court, the story that mattered was the one Kage told, and Cram had no intention of correcting it.

Dual Perspective: In the Court's internal records, the operation is attributed to Kage's "foreseeing the target's route three days prior and pre-positioning assets accordingly." In reality, Cid had received a vague hunch, muttered something about "the flow of the narrative," and left the actual planning to his subordinates. Cram and the team executed flawlessly. The report was filed under Kage's name. Cram signed it without a second thought. The reader, however, knows that the "genius" at the center of the Shadow Court is a young man who still cannot cook a proper meal and who, moments before the operation, was nervously rehearsing a speech he never delivered.
